Optimizing Your 2025 Journal Layouts

People don’t like to read a life story so I’ll keep this short and deliver you those ideas!

If you are interested in the story, I’ll be publishing that post soon too so just keep an eye out or subscribe to get email updates!

I failed miserably at this year’s journal, but as I’m starting next year in a much better place, I’m currently pretty optimistic that I can finally keep this up!^^

2025 Title page

Everyone needs a title page! Maybe not a double page like me, but I think they’re a fun way to introduce the year. Maybe how you design it will reflect how you’re feeling about the upcoming year, and you can go back through the years and see how it changes.

I was planning on adding more to this page but I decided it was more important to just move on and continue with the rest.

2025 Calendar

Perfectionism can be a problem, as as OCD can be too. I struggle with being happy with any work I do, I hate mistakes and that’s a big part of why I do this. The dotted journals I buy to do this each year aren’t cheap – they’re fantastic however. But as they cost, I’m certainly not going to rip out pages or start again because of each mistake (something I used to do with notebooks when I was younger).

Bullet Journaling helps me learn to deal with mistakes, no matter how big or small – I have to get past it if I want to continue, but yeah this page is a perfect example of mistakes…

Bookcase

I went bigger with my bookcase design this year, I want to incorporate more art into my journal and bookcases are one of my favourite things to look at; the belongings on a bookcase tell a story of their own.

Movies and TV

I didn’t do better on this one this year, however. Just as I’d finished this design again, I finally came up with a new idea, but I suppose I’ll just use that next time! But just in case anyone else wants to use the idea – a bookcase designed for DVDs instead, using a different aesthetic; maybe movie figures and posters on the shelves!

Mood Tracker

The good old fashioned pixel year mood tracker is hard to redesign, so I didn’t bother. Instead I’ve kept it simple this year.

Weight Tracker

Normally, I use a design based on tracking my weight loss – you know, colouring in a block when you hit a goal kind of thing, but my weight fluctuates too much for it to feel worth it. Instead, I’m going to focus on tracking those fluctuations in specific areas.

Savings Tracker

The same applies to my savings tracker, as did my weight tracker. Colouring a block once hitting a goal, except I had it as one big goal. This year, instead, I’m splitting the goals up to smaller ones, and I’ll pick more specific ones, such as my need for a new Macbook.

Year Goals

Every year, I struggle with the idea of setting goals for the year, i don’t think I ever manage to complete them. Once again, though, I’m trying out the whole breaking them down into smaller, more specific, and/or attainable.

Social Media Tracker

I’ve only used this page once before a few years ago, and I didn’t use it throughout the year. But as I’m aiming to work harder next year, I’m hoping this will help keep me motivated! (assuming I see any progress, that is)

Once again, if you’re interested in hearing a bit about my year and what changes I’ve made, then keep an eye out for my next post!

Goodluck with your bullet journals!
